Tell tale apps

If a picture can describes a thousand words, what do the icons on a person’s phone describe?

I was farting around on Apple’s AppStore recently looking for all manners of applications available for functionality I’ve successfully relied on browsers to accomplish, when the wealth of apps on the niche topics I was investigating made me realize just how personal a person’s device can get. When you use a browser to, say, research STDs, nothing red flags the subsequent users to your troubling inquiries. However, when someone sees the Mayo Clinic app for venereal diseases on your front page, it’s definitely more of a visible commitment to such an need for ready information.

Chances are they really don’t have too many overtly embarrassing apps for phones, but the notion amused me nonetheless. With the push for companies to be on the cutting edge of reaching consumers, there’s probably a few that just won’t find a niche in mobile applications.

And yes, that is so Raven.
